As we say goodbye to 2014, I want to say thank you for visiting my blog. 408 pageviews in the few months I've had this blog! Here are the last two Christmas songs and my last post of 2014.
I've no idea who or what North Point is, but I got this song for free and it is spectacular. It has some of the song "Hallelujah" in it (Hallelujah is actually the title) and takes a traditional hymn and puts a creative twist on it.
And last but not least is an original Christmas song by Love and the Outcome. I'm pretty sure this is their first venture into Christmas music professionally, and the nailed it on the first try. Amazing song that is all about Jesus and what he did for us. Happy Listening and Happy New Year!
Lincoln Brewster can rock out on the electric guitar and this Christmas song mix is incredible.
This song is one of my favorite Christmas songs. It is fairly new (last year maybe) and to be honest, I listen to it throughout the year too :) Hope you like it as much as I do. Happy Listening!
For being so forgetful (and because I have too many songs left), you get 6 songs in this post! That's right, one for each day since I last posted and a bonus song! First we have a Christmas song from Owl City! Isn't that awesome! He got together with Tobymac and made a great song that was featured in a VeggieTales movie.
Next up is another rendition of The First Noel by a band called Revive. If you listen to Christian radio, you might remember their song Blink that was played ALL the time a few years ago. Anyway, I absolutely love how they did this song.
Last but not least, I'm sure you have heard of Pentatonix. The first song I ever heard from them was Little Drummer Boy and I was so amazed at their talent. Here are four of my favorites of their Christmas music. Happy Listening everyone!
Awesome Christmas songs!!! That wasn't supposed to be a joke, so please don't groan. Anyway, here are two songs by two different bands. Happy Listening!
I am terrible at daily things. All of a sudden, I'm three days behind! So to catch up, here are three Christmas songs: a sad one, a joyful one, and a famous instrumental. Happy Listening!
I've only heard a few songs by Esterlyn and don't know much about them, but I really like what I have heard. This song came out a few Christmases ago and puts the Christmas story into song so beautifully. It also speaks about the reason Jesus came - to save us. Happy Listening!
Sometimes it is really easy to get caught up in all the hype of the world's version of Christmas. It can be hard to keep Jesus at the forefront of the season. This song address that problem beautifully. Happy Listening!
What is Christmas really? What is the core? Jesus. Without Him, there is no Christmas; no reason to celebrate. This is what Kutless is talking about in this song. Happy Listening!
A modern, updated version of a classic hymn, comes alive with the gorgeous voice of Nicole Nordeman. This is at least the second song I've posted about looking to God and that is not a coincidence. I constantly need reminded to "look up" and so do a lot of people. I hope these songs encourage you to "look up". Happy Listening!
Ever heard of Shane Harper? You probably have seen him on Good Luck Charlie or in God's NOT Dead, but he also writes songs! (Seriously, go look at his IMDB bio - the guy is insanely multi-talented). I love this fun song that is obviously inspired by Singing In the Rain (even some of the music video is based on the movie scene). This is my favorite song to listen to on a rainy day. Happy Listening!
Love this song by Da' T.R.U.T.H (does anyone know what TRUTH stands for?) featuring Capital Kings and Tedashii. It's got an awesome sound. This description isn't mine - someone on YouTube wrote it - and it is way better than anything I could have come up with.
Have you ever really liked someone that was just not that into you? You
tried everything in your power to get their attention, love and
affection but nothing seemed to work? I think most of us have been there
at some point in our lives and it doesn't feel good. Now if we feel
some type of way when that happens to us, imagine how God feels when
He's in constant pursuit of us and we give him the cold shoulder. God
wants our attention and he's crying out but can you hear him loud and
clear.
Let's get ready for WINTER JAM!!!!!!!!! The artists and tour dates for the East Coast were just announced tonight! The Palace of Auburn Hills on February 21! So pumped, I can't even wait!
To my knowledge, this is the only song by Silverline that I have heard. Rather than hearing my thoughts on the song, I've inserted a video of the band talking about it! Much better. Happy Listening!
Behind the Music: the band talks about the story behind the song
Owl City has a great new Christian song out called "You're Not Alone". Did you know Adam Young is a Christian? Well, there is your music trivia fact of the day. I really love Owl City's great music (yes, his lyrics can be a bit out there, but that's fun). Happy Listening!
Here is the story behind the song: The song was inspired by a news report that I read online about a
Sudanese woman who was going to jail for being a Christian. She was
sentenced to death by hanging and I remember reading that and thinking
‘how hopeless must that feel?’ I truly have no idea what that would feel
like. Since then she has been rescued and brought back to the States,
thankfully, but God used that story in my life to touch my heart and
say For those who chose to follow Jesus and honor him wholeheartedly,
He’s there with you and, no matter how dark the day may seem, you are
not alone and God knows exactly what you’re going through. That was really the sentiment of this song I think that something
everybody could relate to. Ultimately the message of this song is, despite all odds, there is hope and that hope is Jesus Christ. (If you're interested, the Sudanese woman is Miriam Ibrahim.)
I love upbeat dance music (as you may be figuring out). This is such a fun song by a really awesome band. Off their latest album called "Fearless" which has a bunch of really good songs.
This music video has guest appearances by many Christian singers. The ones I found were: Jason Castro, Tobymac, Capital Kings, Jamie Grace, Tedashii, maybe KJ-52? See anybody else you recognize? Comment and let me know! Happy Listening!
Coming out with a brand new single, Tenth Avenue North emphasizes that we are not made to go it alone; we were made for community. So, here is "No Man Is An Island". Happy Listening!
As far as I know, they don't have a new album yet, but this is their second single (the first was "Be A King"). I love their dance style; you can't help but smile when you hear their music and you have to tap your foot if not all out dance. Happy Listening!
I am very impressed with the direction FF5 seems to be taking with their new lead singer. Their new album "Time Stands Still" is quite good. This song is so fun. Happy Listening!
So sad that Superchic[k] has disbanded, but they left their fans with some great music. "This Is The Time" was written in memory of their drummer who passed away. The message is a similar vein to "We Live" by Superchic[k]. I'm posting that song as well. Two songs in one post! Happy listening!
Originally done by GRITS, the song "Ooh Ahh" was redone by Capital Kings for the 20th anniversary of Gotee Records. Personally, I like this version better, but I would love to know what you think? Did you even hear the original? Happy listening!
Right after I got back from the Grand Canyon, I watched this video for the first time and was able to recognize exactly where NF (the white guy :) is standing! So cool. Anyway, love the message of this song. Happy listening!
Everybody’s got a blank page
A story they’re writing today
A wall that they’re climbing
You can’t carry the past on their shoulders
But you can start over
Regrets, no matter what you goin’ through
Jesus, He gave it all to save you
He carried the cross on His shoulders
So you can start over
Don’t let your heart be troubled
Don’t be afraid
To the broken hearted that wished that they’d
Never been born, never been torn, never sinned, never disobeyed
I know you think there’s no hope, but that ain’t true
I know you feelin’ regret
(Like I) brought this all on myself
(Like I) messed it up big time, and this time I don’t deserve God’s help
(Thinking) how can God forgive me after knowin’ what I did (can He?)
After knowin’ that I hid from Him, and I stayed away and backslid
Jesus came for the sick (so true)
Jesus came for the weak (amen)
Jesus came to give good news and have set the captives free (amen)
Jesus came for the poor (amen)
Jesus came with the keys
Jesus came to remove the chains so the prisoners are released
Everybody’s got a blank page
A story they’re writing today
A wall that they’re climbing
You can’t carry the past on their shoulders
But you can start over
Regrets, no matter what you goin’ through
Jesus, He gave it all to save you
He carried the cross on His shoulders
So you can start over
See, His love is deeper than the ocean floor
Run to His arms like an open door
God the Father sent the Son
So men can come and be free and ain’t gotta run no more
Come to me, all who are weary; with heavy burdens, I’ll give you rest
Separated you from the sin, as far as the east is from the west
Thrown in the sea of forgetfulness
What sin? What offense?
And when them waves come crashing in, I’ll calm the winds in your defense
So, whatever it is that you’ve done
He put that punishment on His Son
You’ll never come under His condemnation... Satan and his accusations
So, dry your eyes, lift up your head
Hallelujah! God is not dead!
Plus He gave us His peace, and He took our guilt on the cross instead
Took our place and now we embrace
A clean slate with the eyes of faith
We know unfailing love, unfailing love, it’s not too late, start over
Everybody’s got a blank page
A story they’re writing today
A wall that they’re climbing
You can’t carry the past on their shoulders
But you can start over
Regrets, no matter what you goin’ through
Jesus, He gave it all to save you
He carried the cross on His shoulders
So you can start over
I heard this song on Yesfm and instantly loved the music. I also like the lyrics, although I would go a step further and say, yes, you need to like who you are, but that is because God made you, and He doesn't make mistakes. Also want to point out that there is no such thing as a living hell, because hell is separation from God. But, I understand the artist is trying to say things are really bad. Okay, enough from me. Happy listening!
LYRICS:
Well I catch my reflection like it's some kind of disease
Wish I quarantined my thoughts before they made it past my teeth
I walk outside and it feels just like the weight of everybody's eyes
Is wrapped around my heart so tight that it might cease to beat
And it's all just passing through, but sometimes
I wake up wishing I was someone else
In a different circumstance, with a different set of plans
And I feel just like the world expected someone else
Well I just wanna like what I see
I just wanna like being me
These failures I can't fix all feel like fire without the heat
Somehow the devil's guilty conscience found its way inside of me
'Cause I let everything I see convince me that I need
To be loved and liked and listened to by everyone but me.
And it's all just passing though, but sometimes
I wake up wishing I was someone else
In a different circumstance, with a different set of plans
And I feel just like the world expected someone else
Well I just wanna like what I see
I just wanna like being me
Don't get caught up in the feeling that the grass is always greener
'Cause you'll never find your meaning if you're not ok with you
And when you feel like life's a living hell, that's the one way you can tell
You only ever see yourself in everything you do
And life is not all about you.
Don't spend it wishing you were someone else
In a different circumstance with a different set of plans
Only you, can be the you, you were made to be
And I'm starting to like what I see
I'm starting to like being me
Okay, so this isn't a new song. They won't all be new. I heard this song on Dance Praise and really like it. I've never heard her on the radio, so I really only know this one song, but she sounds good. Happy listening!
There are times when it just seems like nothing is going right and the trials will never end. Music often is very helpful and this song by American Idol alum Danny Gokey, is all about having hope and faith that the storms of life will indeed end. Happy listening!
He's been doing music forever and still comes out with great new songs. This is off his latest album - The Glorious Unfolding - and is the title track. His music is just awesome from the start to now. Happy listening! This is the lyric vidieo
and just because it is so cool, here is the music video
I love music and I love hearing new songs. The purpose of this blog is to have a place to let you all know about the great new music out there. I admit, this blog will be slightly biased, as what I consider good tunes might not be your cup of tea. Sometimes, I might be posting a new song everyday and sometimes it might be weeks in between posts. I hope you will find some new favorite songs here. Happy listening!
